A Little About Me

I am a fresh, out of college human now, in a time of massive transition. And since I have nothing better to do, or rather have a lot to do, but it’s too daunting to take on right this moment, I’ve decided I’ll try my hand at a blog. Seems easy, right? Not really. There’s this whole learning how to navigate the behind the scenes editing of the blog to make it look pretty and reflect myself. And then there’s the writing part.
I’m not the most talented or interesting writer in the world, but I can try my hand at it, so to speak. Anyways, I suppose what I want to do is to put my life experiences into words so I can have a place to share myself, my thoughts, my life. I don’t feel I’m all that interesting, but I have friends, so I guess I am in some way.
Here’s a brief background of myself so that you all can get to know me somewhat.
I am a (nearly) 22-year-old graduate from University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music; I have a big, black cocker spaniel named Milo, and I’ve finally moved out of the only house I’ve ever lived in to move into an apartment with Sadie, whom I met in college. It’s awesome living with her.
My dad died when I was fourteen from a heart attack, and my mom died last October from cancer. So now it’s just me, my brother (and his wife and new child), cousin and grandma living in the state. Sure, I’ve got aunts, uncles and other cousins, but they’re nowhere close. I sometimes get the sneaking suspicion that I have a strange family dynamic, but then, doesn’t everyone?
I have the most wonderful boyfriend in the world in James. We’ve been dating for 3 years this coming October. I couldn’t have asked for a better man to come into my life. He’s sweet, caring, doting and just all around spoils me. He revived the hopeless romantic in my heart that had begun to wither and give up hope on ever finding anyone (at a silly age of 19). He was with me when we found out my mom had cancer and remained my rock ever since.
I firmly believe that people are shaped by their interactions with one another, and I don’t think a life can be properly described without introducing the people who’ve shaped them.
I am young. Silly. Artsy. Friendly. Literate. Disorganized. Loved. Musical. Lazy. I am made up of my friends, family, acquaintances, and people I barely know. I am many things, and a conglomeration of everyone I've ever met. Welcome to me.
